How it works

How PressContact keeps the database relevant.

A working database isn't a one-time scrape — it's a continuous editorial process supported by software. PressContact pairs PR-trained editors with an AI monitoring layer so the contacts you unlock today reflect the journalists actually publishing today.

01

Curated by PR experts

Every journalist in the database is reviewed and tagged by editors who have worked in agency and in-house communications. Each contact is classified by outlet, beat, country, and language, so a search for automotive journalists in Germany returns reporters who actually cover automotive in German publications — not general business writers with a passing mention.

02

Maintained with AI

Our system continuously monitors new bylines across thousands of publications worldwide. When a journalist changes beat, moves to a new outlet, or stops publishing, the record is flagged for editorial review. The database updates on a weekly basis.

03

Verified at the point of contact

The moment a credit is spent to unlock a journalist's email, the address is verified for deliverability in real time. If verification fails, the credit is refunded automatically and the record is retired from the public database.

About

About PressContact.

PressContact was built to solve a problem PR professionals know well — media databases that look comprehensive on paper but fall apart in practice. Journalists move beats. Outlets shut down. Email addresses go stale. Annual subscriptions don't keep up.

We started PressContact to take the opposite approach: a database curated by people who have done PR work themselves, kept current by a system that watches the industry continuously, and priced so you only pay for what you actually use.

Today, PressContact is used by in-house PR teams, agencies, startups, and freelance consultants around the world to find the right journalist for the right story.

What happens if a journalist's email is undeliverable?
